---Job Title: Human Resources GeneralistReports To: Director of Human ResourcesNature of Work: The Human Resources Generalist is dedicated to organizing, managing, and initiating a wide variety of Human Resources functions, activities and projects including recruitment, administering pay, benefits, and leave policies. Responsibilities Manage recruitment process, including posting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openingsCreate offer letters, job descriptions and other relevant personnel documentsFacilitate the pre-employment process including reference and background checksAdminister benefits, including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD, LTD, Workers Compensation, COBRA, and FMLANew EmployeeTransfers/TerminationsOpen EnrollmentQualifying EventRespond to employee inquiries related to benefit coverage and claimsAdminister performance management process, including goal setting and appraisalsManage relationships with HR vendorsMaintain employee records and prepare reports, as requested Prepare employee exit packets, conduct, and analyze exit interviewsWorking knowledge of the HRIS system to execute semi-monthly payroll for Alumni Association staffAssist with the implementation of services, policies, and programsMaintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain complianceMaintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment lawAssist with events and administrative activities including United WayPerforms other duties as assignedJob Competencies and ExperienceEducationBachelor's degree in Business Management, Human Resources, or related field from an accredited college or universityExperienceOne to three years of human resources requiredPrevious payroll and benefits experience preferred SkillsExcellent multi-tasking and organizational skills requiredExcellent customer serviceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong conflict resolution skillsAbility to handle and maintain confidential informationProtect Personal Health Information (PHI)Clear understanding of employment laws Core Competencies Effective Communication: Exhibits exceptional listening skills, and is transparent through open dialog and information sharingExecution & Initiative: Demonstrates a high level of initiative on assignments; expresses interest in achieving team success and contributing to overall goalsTeamwork & Interpersonal Skills: Builds and maintains strong internal working relationships that promote open and honest communicationProblem Solving & Judgement: Uses sounds judgement to evaluate situations and make decisions based on member-centric focusAdaptability: Committed to continuous improvement; adapts to change, is open to new ideasEquipment Used:Laptop computerMicrosoft OutlookCopier, fax, scannerMicrosoft Office SuiteWork Environment:The position is housed in an office setting within the OSU Alumni CenterSpecial Condition for Employment: Successful completion of a background check
