Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiovascular Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: One year of experience License: Current RN License issued by the State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association; ACLS Must-Have: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Responsible for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at the time of discharge. Informs patient and family of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. This position requires experience in a mixed cardiovascular floor. Must have cardiac unit experience, including step-down experience. May be asked to interpret EKG, monitor rhythms and rates, and collaborate with cardiac rehabilitation, education, and discharge planning. Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures is essential. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is required. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees is important. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is required. Some computer skills are needed.
