Job Description:
The Neighborhood Services Organization (NSO) launched the Stay
Housed Tenant Advocacy Center (Stay Housed) in 2025, a program
designed to support individuals and families at risk of eviction.
The program provides guidance, advocacy, and connection to
community resources to promote housing stability. The Outreach
Coordinator plays a key role in engaging tenants, landlords,
courts, and community partners to prevent eviction and strengthen
housing stability. This position conducts community-based outreach
supports tenants in understanding their rights and navigating the
eviction process and promotes awareness of Stay Housed services.
The role requires strong communication skills, cultural competency,
sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with
underserved populations. Flexibility is essential, as
responsibilities may evolve with program development. Work schedule
is primarily Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with
occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours as program needs
dictate. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Tenant Outreach and Engagement:
Conduct outreach to tenants facing eviction or housing instability.
Provide trauma-informed education regarding tenant rights and
available resources. Represent Stay Housed at community and agency
events to increase program awareness. Proactively identify outreach
opportunities and take initiative in planning, organizing, and
coordinating community events and engagement activities, while
working under general direction and following established program
guidelines. Under general guidance, develop event plans, manage
logistics, and ensure activities align with program goals and
organizational standards. Court Navigation and Referral
Coordination: Educate tenants on eviction court processes in clear,
accessible language. Connect tenants with legal services and
community resources. Coordinate referral processes with courts,
landlords, and partner agencies to streamline eviction prevention
services. Community Partnerships and Program Promotion Develop and
maintain collaborative relationships with housing agencies, legal
service providers, landlords, businesses, and community
organizations. Lead or participate in community forums and
informational sessions related to housing stability and tenant
advocacy. Support planning and implementation of outreach
initiatives to expand program visibility and access. Data
Collection and Program Support Maintain accurate and timely records
of client interactions and outreach activities. Ensure compliance
with reporting requirements and established timelines. Assist in
tracking program outcomes and identifying opportunities for
continuous improvement. Other Duties Maintain confidentiality of
client information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and
agency policies. Perform additional duties as assigned to support
program and organizational objectives. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Training &
Experience Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field
preferred; equivalent relevant education and experience will be
considered. Minimum two (2) years of experience in tenant advocacy,
housing services, outreach, or a related field required. Experience
working with low-income or underserved populations strongly
preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency (spoken)
preferred. Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred. KEY
SKILL SETS & ABILITIES: Passionate about tenant rights, housing
stability, and community service, with a commitment to supporting
fair systems and helping vulnerable populations. Knowledge of
tenant rights, eviction prevention strategies, affordable housing
resources, and rental assistance programs, or ability to quickly
acquire such knowledge. Strong interpersonal and communication
skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences professionally
and respectfully. Ability to explain complex information clearly in
high-pressure or fast-paced settings. Effective problem-solving,
critical thinking, and organizational skills. Ability to manage
multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn and utilize case
management and data tracking systems. Ability to work independently
and collaboratively within a team environment. Demonstrated ability
to build partnerships and foster community relationships. WORKING
CONDITIONS: Full-time position, up to 40 hours per week. Based at
NSO’s Stay Housed Tenant Advocacy Center with frequent
community-based outreach. The majority of time spent in this
position is in a clean, well-lit, heated and/or air-conditioned
indoor setting with adequate ventilation. Requires travel within
the community for meetings, court attendance, and outreach
activities. Requires standing, walking, and transporting outreach
materials. Occasionally lift and move up to 30lb.unassisted.
Stooping and bending is required while setting up outreach events.
Occasional periods of high stress may arise during the role.
Evening and weekend hours required as needed for community events
and outreach activities. Responsibilities may evolve to meet
organizational and programmatic needs. The role involves
collaboration across various departments, and responsibilities may
evolve to meet the organization’s needs. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid
driver’s license and automobile insurance with minimum coverage of:
$100,000 bodily injury (per person) $300,000 bodily injury (per
accident) $100,000 property damage Successful completion of
background check and drug screening. This position is designated as
Safety Sensitive under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Act. The
